Rocks can be many things: they were probably our earliest weapons, they’ve been ballast on our journeys of exploration, even modern-art pieces.

Not of an ancient destroyed planet. Inter steller objects keep on hitting earth. The polar regions are by and large unexplored especially the south pole region. A few years back a Martian rock was discovered there that was believed to have carried alien life forms.

I agree. It is likely that the findings are that of a comet's tail fragments. We experience periodic rains of meteors and this is likely to be some sort of a piece from the skies within out solar system. Remember, the asteroid belt is also believed to be the fragments of a planet that never formed.

Finding a meteorite is like finding a puzzle piece to the universe because each chunk tells scientists more about how other planets and asteroids developed. Scientists from all over the world are chosen each year to search Antarctic ice sheets for new meteorites, which fall on the ice and stick out in the snowy surroundings. About 95 percent of the meteorites we find are ordinary from asteroids, unfortunately even this one’s like that.

Or just goout and find a few movies from the 50’s that told us all about this in an eerie, spookie kinda way!
